Drax To Acquire Flexitricity For GBP 36 Million
Drax Group PLC announced on January 21, 2026, it has agreed to acquire Flexitricity, a UK-based demand-side response provider, for £36 million in cash. The transaction, expected to close in Q2 2026, marks Drax’s strategic expansion into flexible energy services amid rising grid stability demands. Flexitricity, founded in 2005, manages over 1 gigawatt of distributed energy capacity across the UK and Ireland, enabling businesses to reduce energy use during peak periods. The acquisition strengthens Drax’s portfolio in renewable integration and grid balancing. Drax shares (DRX.L) rose 2.4% in early trading following the announcement. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
