Global Wafers Preparing Phase Two Expansion of Taiwan Fab – Stock: GLW
Global Wafers announced plans to advance phase two of its expansion at its Taiwan semiconductor fabrication facility, targeting increased production capacity for silicon wafers. The move, set to begin in Q2 2026, aims to meet rising demand from global chipmakers amid ongoing supply chain diversification efforts. The company confirmed a $450 million capital investment for the second phase, which will boost annual output by 15% and support advanced process nodes. This follows the completion of phase one in late 2025. Global Wafers, a key supplier to major foundries including TSMC and Samsung, reported a 9% year-over-year revenue increase in Q4 2025, driven by higher wafer shipments. The expansion underscores growing strategic importance of Taiwan’s role in global semiconductor manufacturing. Shares of Global Wafers (GLW) rose 3.2% in pre-market trading on January 21, 2026.
